Week #2

The 2nd week was little bit stressful but not like the 1st (*o*). It was within construction week. I’d been gone to many main substations in Putrajaya as well as helping the HR in filing some files during staying in the office. During 2nd week; I’d clarify about some general knowledge with the engineers and technicians so that I can understand about the electrical power major as well as comprehend about the electricity distribution system in both area Putrajaya & Cyberjaya. Here is an example about Low Voltage (LV):-

1-Phase, two wires (Small House)
V = 240V P=12KVA (Max. Demand)
I max = 50A (for fuse); usually small house use 30A.

• 3-Phase, Four-Wires (Big House)
V 3-Phase = 415V P=45KVA (Max. Demand)
I max = 62A (for fuse); usually big house use around 60A

3-Phase, Four wires (Mall or Very Big Building)
V 3-Phase = 415V P=1000KVA (Max. Demand)
I max = 1391.21A; Note that; we need to use C.T. (Current transformer) for the purpose of step current down!

**********************************************************

In your information; there are a lot of main substations throughout Putrajaya and Cyberjaya. Those substations consist of 33KV step down into 11KV through transformer.

The figure on the left site indicates about the existing 33KV Network at Putrajaya & Cyberjaya.

The picture on the right site indicate about 11KV & 33KV shut down tool and Warning Lift

In the whole general; the main substation are consisting of 3 main room; the Switch Gear room (33KV & 11KV) with RTCC (Remote Tap Changing Control) , Battery Room and Control Room.

The 11KV Switch Gear consis of 2 Feeder, 2 Transformer and Buses

The 33KV Switch Gear consist of 2 feeder, 2 Transformer and Buses.

The RTCC is used for preventing the transformer to flash or to get burnt.

The Battery Room used as feedback supply power

Control Room consist of feedback supply for both Switch Gear 11KV & 33KV

During Thursday (22/4/2010); I’ve been requested by the Human Resource Department; particularly from Siti Elyana Ashari to attend a seminar called Majlis Pelan Caran Kempen Menana 26 juta Pokok done by YB DATO SRI. DOUGLAS UGGAH EMBAS in presient 4, 62574 Putrajaya. TNBD was involved with other company to farm a tree supporting to that program since the General Manager (GM) MOHAMAD ROSLI HUSSAIN and some TNBD staff was attended during that event. Here is my picture with the GM and TNBD staff (^^);

During Friday (22/4/2010); it’s was a meeting as well as discussing with my host supervisor or my mentor; En.Lokman Bin Yusoff about my Industrial Training Log Book. My mentor checked my log book out and made some comment about it. Besides; he recommended me to study and understand about the Overcurrent and Earth Fault since they are both important for Power System Protection as well as he lends me Power Engineer Guide Book from SIEMENS Company to read further about Power Protection (/^o^\).

Week #1

In this weblog; you may wonder why I named by Industrial Training. In fact; Industrial Training (COEB314) is a subject giving by Universiti Tenaga Nasiona in Selangor, Malaysia; aiming to help the university student to expose as well as prepare for the real work place field which it probably will be a great experience after the graduation from university. Therefore; I’m going to share with you about my life and my general experience during 3 month of my real life. The fact that I hope that you probably will find out my achievement during my industrial training in TNBD (Tenaga Nasional Berhad Distribution) which is located in Putrajaya & Cyberjaya for period of three months.

{After giving you a simple introduction about the TNBD; now I’d love to describe and share with you all about my training schedule. I had been scheduled to some activities that probably will be helpful in my industrial training such as construction, maintenance, customer services, planning and GIS/ Training Report. Each of these activities is divided into a specific period days that suited for three months practical. For instance; Construction Activity is specified period for two weeks and Planning Activity is also specific period for two weeks but GIS/ Training Report Activity is specified period for one-months and so on}.

During my first week; I’ve gone for site in Putrajaya & Cyberjaya with construction team technicians. Here are some pictures (*o*);

Going for site with consctruction Team technicain

Feeder Pillar 415V & Transformer 11KV -415V (Delta-Star) & Switch Gear 11KV

33KV Underground Cable 630mm2 (Al & Cu), it's coming Transmission substation heading to the main substation.

415V cable for the consumer. This cable width is 25mm2. it consists of 4-cable(R,Y,B,N) made of Al only and all of the cable were being isulated. The rubber is used to seperated the isulation from the 4- cable

Undergound Cabling Hall 33KV & 11KV, it's like a small hall under earth; consisting of various type of cables.

Cable identification used to indicate what is the live cable inside the under earth hall for the purpsre of cutting & jointing cable together.

Hydraulic Cutter is used to cut underground cable without being inside the underearth hall for the purpose of safety

During Friday (16/4/2010); it was meeting program called by Goodbye Ceremony. This meeting program involves discussing about the company work and rewarding the transfer staff from TNBD as well as introduces myself to the general manager, engineers and all staff. It was very nice program and I also had lunch together with all the staff. It was unforgettable day :)).

My first week was, indeed, excited and fun but it was very stressful week. After all, I’ve learnt about the installing underground cable, transformers, feeder Pillar, Type of fusion, Cable Identification System Device and Hydraulic Cutter Device............ Thanks Allah! (‘^o^’)
